Whittington Castle Project Management
Whittington Castle, near Oswestry, Shropshire 2004 - 9 Total value £1.3million
Sula project managed the restoration of Whittington Castle, probably the only community run castle in the country, for the Whitiington Castle Preservation Trust.
Again, this included the following stages:
- Commissioning a Conservation Plan
- Writing the Business Plan
- Applying for funding to cover the costs of £1.3million. This included obtaining a grant of £950,000, from the HLF, plus £25,000 development costs, £60,000 from English Heritage, £30,000 from Defra and the rest from a variety of sources.
- Helping the Trust to appoint architects, quanitiy surveyors, archaeologists, interpretation designers, CDM and other consultants
- Drawing down all the funding
- Co-ordinating all the work on site
- Managing the budget and ensuring all fees were paid on time
- Arranging the opening by HRH the Duke of Gloucester in 2009
